Energy audit
The Energy certificate gives independent information about the building’s specific annual energy consume in [kWh/m2a] dimension. During the energy audit we take in consideration the consumer’s habits, the measured data and based on these we suggest energy saving measures. Estimating the cost of the energy saving investments we calculate the payback time, which helps the costumer to decide which investment is he considering for a feasibility study and which one to be implemented.
To determine the efficiency of the energy consumption systems and to make energy saving measures it is recommended to make an energy audit which is a more detailed analysis and on the one hand it is based on the factual data of the building and on the other hand it is based on measured data. During the energy audit we collect data from the building construction and the building service system on the spot, identify the energy consumer system, analyze the energy consumption (gas, district heating, electricity bills, etc.) and we measure the inside temperature and humidity with the necessary number of data-logger, we measure the air volume at the air handling unit, and in case of non-residential buildings we collect data from the lighting and electric system. As a result of the energy audit we suggest energy saving measures for the building and its building service engineering system, we estimate the cost of the investments and calculate the payback time.
The purpose of the energy audit on a certain building, (including the occupant’s habits) is to reduce the energy consumption. Steps of the energy audit:
• Local survey, collecting data
Comparison of the plans we have disposition and the real executed situation, with special attention to the building envelope, heating, ventilation, and illumination system and water consumption. Comparison of the plans’ documentations, the ones we have available, and realised executed stage, in regards to the building’s envelope, heating and air conditioning system, design of illumination system and water consume. Collecting the operational experiences and typical complaints.
• Defining building’s indoor environment parameters
Determination and measuring the temperature, humidity, CO2 concentration and air velocity in some of the building’s room. The measured values will be compared with the standard requirements.
• Analysis of the energy consumption
We are processing the last two-three years energy bills. Collection and processing the monthly heat consumption, electric energy consumption, the water and sewer expenses as physical dimensions and as expenses.
• Determination of the energy need of the building
Determination of the energy need of the building with the Winwatt program. The basic data will be input based in on the plan documentation, and local ingress. Primer energy consumption of the heating, DHW and illumination systems will be determined based on the heat calculations and specific values. The result of the calculation is the elaboration of the recent energy consumption, energy labelling and the energy certificate.
• Suggestions for energy efficient remodelling
We suggest energy efficient remodelling based on the costumer’s behaviour, and real energy utility bills. Single- and group effect of the suggested realizations, on the energy consumption and energy labelling. Calculation of the payback time.
The cost of the energy audit is 6-8% of the building’s energy consumption; it is up to the complexity of building service system.
